NorthWest Rail (NWR) represents a coming together of the Government of the Republic of Zambia, Zambian shareholders, mining companies, financers and logistics operators. The project entails the construction of railway lines connecting the copper heartland of Zambia to the borders of Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo (part of the "Lobito Corridor"). The total project cost is estimated at $1.2bn.
